FAQ

What are your hours?

My virtual office hours are by appointment.

I schedule sessions between the hours of 8:00 am and 8:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

How long are sessions?
Individual sessions are typically 50 minutes. Couples therapy is usually scheduled for 90 minutes.
What is the hourly fee?
Each 50-minute session is $125, and a 90-minute session is $175.
How do I pay?

Payments are processed online through our secure payment portal.  We accept Visa, Mastercard, and American Express.  Debit cards are also accepted.

Do you take insurance?

I accept insurance from the following providers:  Aetna, United Healthcare, Cigna, Oxford, and Oscar Health.  If your provider is not listed but allows for out-of-network reimbursement and/or will apply your payments towards your deductible, I can provide a monthly “superbill” for that purpose.

How do I set up an initial appointment?

You may call my direct line, (601) 498-8263, and schedule an appointment. Or you can email me at missybrame@hubcitycounseling.com, and we can communicate that way. My email account is confidential and HIPAA-compliant.

What is your cancellation policy?
Please contact me 24 hours in advance of your appointment if you need to reschedule or cancel. To minimize missed appointments, I will send a reminder email 48 hours before your scheduled session.
With what age ranges do you work?
I work with adults 18 years of age and older. If you’re seeking therapy for your younger family members, I can provide a referral for you.
Do your clients receive homework?
Typically, my clients are given assignments to work on between sessions. The type of assignment is dependent upon the specific goals the client has set. Homework could include reading a book or article that I’ve suggested. It may include keeping a gratitude journal. Some clients have daily work that is done with the help of an app. Couples work on specific areas of their relationship and practice communication skills.
What is your education and professional background?

I received a Master of Science degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from The University of Southern Mississippi, a Master of Business Administration degree from The University of Alabama, and a Bachelor of Arts in Extension Studies from Harvard University.

My experience as a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) was in providing therapy to individuals, couples, families, and groups in both private practice and residential treatment.

I am trained in Gottman Method Couples Therapy and MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction), and I am an advanced facilitator for the “Eat Right Now” and “Unwinding Anxiety” programs.

As a former member of the faculty at The University of Southern Mississippi, I taught undergraduate marriage and family courses at the College of Education and Human Sciences.

I served on the board of MAMFT (Mississippi Association for Marriage and Family Therapy), and I am a clinical fellow with AAMFT (American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy).

What are some other things I should know about you?

I meditate every day but probably wouldn’t if neuroscience hadn’t come along with some “proof” of its benefits.

I love dogs but am allergic to cats (really, I’m not just saying that as an excuse to not have a cat).

I make the best brownies ever and struggle to stop at one (or two).  This is where mindfulness is really helpful 🙂

I am in this profession because I enjoy helping people figure out how to create their best life. It’s quite a rewarding job.
